Virtual Venue

If you need assistance, please contact the organizers in the CPS-IoT Week Slack workspace or email cpsiot@cps-vo.org.

CPS-IoT Week will be held in an entirely virtual format. Zoom will be used for all Keynotes and Paper Sessions. Gather.Town will be used for the Poster & Demo Sessions as well as the Virtual Reception. Slack will be used for discussion and questions.

Registrants can access the links to all platforms and Zoom rooms on the password protected page at  https://cps-iot-week2021.isis.vanderbilt.edu/access. Check your email for the username and password to access the page. Depending on when you registered, the email would have arrived on Friday, May 14 or Monday, May 17. The subject line is 2021 CPS-IoT Week: virtual platform access.

Zoom

Opening/closing remarks and keynote presentations will take place in a joint Zoom Webinar room. Each conference will have a unique Zoom room for their respective paper sessions.

Gather.Town

Poster & Demo sessions, as well as networking and social activities, will take place on the Gather.Town virtual platform. Gather provides the opportunity for proximity-based interactions and was carefully selected to ensure a more immersive online user experience. Move your avatar around the 2D world with 8-bit graphics by using your keyboard's arrow keys. As your avatar approaches another avatar, you will begin to see that user's audio/video and can have a conversation with them. Each user has the opportunity to share their audio and video.

Each conference's poster and demo session will take place in one of three poster rooms. Poster and demo content will be pre-loaded and organized in a grid similar to an in-person conference. To interact with a poster or video, users will navigate their avatar to the poster or video they want to see and press 'x' on their keyboard to enter a full screen viewing. Presenters will be stationed at their assigned space and will be able to interact with attendees while they are viewing the poster.

Each poster/demo area has been defined in the platform as a private space indicated by the carpeted area in front of the poster stand or demo table. Only people within a set private space will be able to hear each other; conversations of individuals not in the private space will be silenced.

You may test your audio and video settings in a Gather demo site at:

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I access the platforms?
Registrants can access the links to all platforms and Zoom rooms on the password protected page at https://cps-iot-week2021.isis.vanderbilt.edu/access. Check your email for the username and password to access the page. Depending on when you registered, the email would have arrived on Friday, May 14 or Monday, May 17. Q: What technology do I need to attend this event?
An internet connection that allows you to participate in a Google Meet or Zoom meeting is sufficient for both platforms. For Zoom, you do not need a camera or microphone unless you want to come on screen to ask a question. For Gather, you will need a camera and microphone for the best experience. If you do not have a camera and microphone installed, you will still be able to walk around the Gather event space, view posters, and interact with other attendees via the chat.

Q: Can I listen via phone?
You can dial in for Zoom Webinars. However, Gather.Town is an interactive platform and will require a computer.

Q: Where do I go if I need assistance?

For all questions or assistance navigating the virtual spaces, please visit the Help Desk, located in the Gather platform. The Help Desk will always be staffed by a member of the Organizing Committee. You can also send an email to cpsiot@cps-vo.org or visit the main conference slack channel at cpsiotweek-2021@slack.com.
